Antithesis

This word has been bubbling, swirling and bouncing around in my head for a little while now. I think it's because it sounds so well different it's the way that the 'th' is pronounced as a 't'. There's another thing that starts with a 't' TIME. That's what this post is about it's all about time.

A wise woman recently told me 'look you're 17 years old. You're going to spend another 17 years and you probably still won't know what you're doing.' Teenagers suffer from one massive short coming. We're inexperienced. We like to think that we're adults whereas in reality... well we're just children in adult bodies. Because we've spent such a small amount of time on earth then it means we have no gage as to the true length of our lifetime. That means that we tend to rush into things. It's the teenage philosophy life is fleeting we must savor every moment.

If anything happens then immediately we sense that it's the end of life as we know it. Maybe that's just because we haven't experienced enough crap to realise that we will get through it. If you break up with your 2 month boyfriend then it seems as if it's the end of the world because you made plans and it was meant to last forever. Everyone seems to be annoyed by the statistic that in reality less than 2% of teenage romances will last. We all believe that we'll be that 2%. I read a profound comment on Katy Perry's Teenage Dream music video. 'It's about the intensity of a first love, usually when we're teenagers. We don't have walls up, and we put all our emotions in it.' Most teenagers haven't experienced heart break so we have no need to protect ourselves. We show our emotions and we put it all out there. Maybe a part of that is because of the hormones but most of it is because of the lack of experience. We don't understand the possible consequences. Perhaps that means that teenagers fall harder than their adult counterparts. It also means that they try harder.

They haven't been squashed into a little corporate cubicle. They still believe that they can change the world and that they will change the world. That means that they try harder because they have a dream and they follow it. It may mean that they fall harder but it also means that they rise higher faster. Isn't it always better to try? I'm always reminded of one of the most cliched lines from Shakespeare 'It is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.' It doesn't only refer to love. It refers to life in general. If you never try then you'll never know what you could have. Perhaps that's a very twisted interpretation but it's mine and I'm perfectly entitled to have my very own opinion.

We can't comprehend time. We're living each day as it comes by the simple philosophy that we could get hit by a car. The problem with that is that we tend to screw things up... badly and often. We don't fully comprehend the consequences of our actions. Today it feels good, today I'm having a great time so why on earth would I care about tomorrow. We don't realise that we've lived less that a quarter of our lives. There's plenty left. When you're a teenager it isn't even the prime of your life. Sure Metro Station may earnestly sing that they want to be Seventeen Forever. But if you're really living life then you'll want to be Thirty Four Forever too. Every year gets better than the last. That's because you have enough experience to recognise when something good has happened and when you've made a mistake. We love being teenagers because it's what we're going through at the moment but I'll promise that it'll just keep on getting better if you keep on looking forward.

Time. It was created by humans to order the passing of days, weeks and years. It means something more than humans are irrational. It's a reminder of all of the things that you still have to do, you still have to say all of the living you still have to do. Don't throw it away.

You're not invincible.

For Future Camilla: I feel like a Grandmother. I feel like I'm in limbo. I feel like an observer.

3 Good Things
*Being memorable... I felt rotten for not reciprocating the rememberingness but Jack is just a very common name and similarly it was very dark at the ball and I introduced myself to a lot of people...
*The night sky at Ruamahanga. I could see so many shining symbols which reminded me of the infinityof the universe.
*Molasses on my fingers. The massive container fell over in the car and consequently I got it on my fingers but... I like the smell of molasses. It reminds me of the homey-ness of horses.

NOTE TO SELF: 'T' Shirt of Life story would be so cool to wear... have it with like times new roman font and really graphic... wear it with a high waisted skirt or maybe jeans... It would be SO cool... V indie. Get one made when you have time

Also emoticons do serve a valid purpose as it stops misunderstandings since on fb chat you really can't get sarcasm... someone should invent a sarcasm emoticon... I got it (:! see he has a raise mono brow and no smile...
