A silver bottle necklace

Whenever something sort of cool happens I always feel kind of compelled to write about it. So let's reverse about 2 weeks. I went out into town one night and it ended up being a night which contained all of the ingredients that should have made it the worst night of my life; a girl vomited on me and I lost my beautiful silver bottle necklace. Yet somehow I still managed to have fun. I consoled the girl who vomited me (and ended up having to pay a massive fine for vomiting on the bus) and I managed to recruit lots of people to help me find me necklace. In fact the next morning everything seemed fantastic I received a text message saying that MALBAS the student bar in Palmerston North had my necklace and everything seemed wonderful. Then I tried getting it back. To be completely honest I was blown off. The woman at the bar told me to come back in five minutes then ten minutes then even longer than that. She really didn't care about my necklace which 'my dead aunt gave me'. I find that if sentimental value is attached to an object then people are more compelled to find it. 'Dead Aunt' isn't a complete lie either. The necklace was one which I stole from my sister who stole it from my Aunt. So there's an aunt connection.

Most importantly however is the fact that I just love that necklace. It works well with anything and I think it's the first piece of jewellery that I actually wore as a fashion conscious adult. That's part of the reason I felt amazing when I found that necklace tonight. After two weeks of fretting/worrying/thinking that maybe the guy who said he had my necklace was just a rapist who wanted my phone number so he could stalk me... I finally got my necklace back. It turns out Malbas does have a lost and found... Although you only get to access it when they think that you're reasonably sober. Lame I say. Tonight I apparently fit the bill. They showed me my beautiful necklace and immediately relief flooded through me. There just isn't anything like it. Of course they didn't treat it well. I lost the bottle top and both of the sides were dented. But as far as I'm concerned it a) gives it a little bit more character so I can tell the story of how I lost my wonderful necklace and b) well I'm just really happy about the story. It kind of just shows that it's lived a little.

Overall I'm just happy to have it back. I had to do a lot of BS to get it but now it's safely sitting on my desk so tonight has well and truly been worth it. I love how I'm so compelled to write about inanimate objects.

3 Good Things
*Claiming Martinborough as my home town. Whether it be boarding at St Matts or supporting local produce by buying Martinborough wine. I think I well and truly acted like a local tonight.
*Nicole. For* curling my hair for both the halls ball and the techensoc ball. What can I say? She really is a whiz with a hair straightener.
*The $4 which was gifted to me to catch a taxi home. I like to think that Karmic synergy will help that fellow out.

xx Blog out

After Dinner Mint: I don't even know why I love that silver bottle so very much. It's just a necklace. But I guess it's unique and funky. What weird inanimate objects do you cling onto?
