Today I went to body balance. It's yet another class at the gym. I had a realisation last night that I really should go to the gym more often since otherwise I wouldn't be making the most out of my membership and as you all know I hate to be cheated out of any money. That's how I ended up at the body balance class in my fat pants and fat jumper. I thought that body balance was the easy option for people who wanted to get fit but not do any work. If you aren't familiar with body balance I'll explain it... It's yoga, Pilate's, meditation and all of those lovely forms of exercise that you'll find at a relaxation spa. I guess that was the whole reason I did it in reality. I just needed a little bit of chill time.
Little did I know that it was actually rather difficult. Everyone else had their gym leggings, zip up track suit tops and nike running tops meanwhile I'd just chucked on fat pants. Needless to say I got a little bit toasty. There were moments when I was so contorted I wasn't entirely sure which leg was my left and which was my right. It's all rather confusing.
Although at every new position I just had to have a little giggle to myself. They just looked so utterly bizarre. Quite a few even looked like weird sex positions. Even more so when the couple in front of me had positioned their mats a little too close to one another. Rather awkward being behind them. It got even funnier when the downward facing dog started to involve movements... Although I did rather crack up when I watched everyone around me fall over when we were in a position where you had to balance on one leg. Everyone fell... even the instructor. It almost made me want to say 'look lady you may be smiling but if you can't do this position then how can a tubby freshman gymster do it?'
The meditation was the best. I've been dying for an excuse to use that label again. It's so nice to just hear the rhythmic breathing of a group people. Eventually I let go of all of my stress and just focused on that calm. There's something so powerful about silence or near silence at least. Every muscle relaxes individually sinking your entire body into the ground until the only muscle still working is your brain. Then even it has to relax and turn to wonderful pinky coloured mush. Doesn't everyone love that worry-free mush?
3 Good Things
*Yet another hot cross bun... I think I have a slight obsession but the tip top bakery ones are rather tasty!
*Relaxing body balance.
*A hilarious fire alarm... You'd be surprised by the amount of people wondering around in towels... A rather inconvenient time to pop in the shower I guess...
Oh and it's raining outside my window... I finally have a window which is perfect for rain gazing, I can watch every drop trickle down the window... It's rather awesome.
