This afternoon I did nothing. When I say that it's not in a hyperbolic sense. I did nothing productive and in fact I spent most of it lying on the floor staring at the ceiling in my Grandmothers dining room. Like I said 'nothing'. I achieved nothing so I will probably never be able to refer back to this afternoon but it was B-E-A utiful.
Nothingness is the epitome of holidayness. You laze around doing nothing not even tanning (I tend to just burn... which sucks since I was always a tanned child and now I'm whiter and pastier than a bleached sheet). In fact I reckon that underneath the word Holiday in the dictionary should be a blank space to symbolise the nothingness. It's a time for your body and your mind to wind down to stop thinking and to disintegrate into gloop temporarily since we think far too much during the rest of the year. It's for that reason that no one should ever try and have me do anything or tell me anything serious during the holidays. If you ask me to make a cake (as a chore not a holiday) then I'd probably understand hand mix as put hands into mixture instead of simply mixing the mixture with a spoon but with elbow grease instead of electricity. At this time of the year don't be surprised if you get a ridiculous response from me my brain is on holiday leaving my body to fend for itself and my brain will not be happy if it has to return early...
Oh and my word a day calendar gave me the LAMEST word today. Langue. It's french! and it basically means Language as a system rather than language in use. Langue is the formal rules, structures, and limitations of language. Not sure if I fully understand that but it will be challenge trying to say it in a conversation in ENGLISH.
